# Why is my CSV file all in one column? **Nothing is wrong with the file — Excel imported it with the wrong separator.** Your export opens with every field crammed into the first column, commas and all: ![An Evaboot CSV opened in Excel with every field crammed into a single column](https://help.evaboot.com/images/9887776/img-1.jpeg) ![Every field in the first column. Three fixes: download XLSX instead, double-click the CSV, or re-save through Google Sheets](https://help.evaboot.com/images/illustrations/csv-fixes.png) ## Quickest fix: download XLSX instead Every Evaboot export can be downloaded as **XLSX** as well as CSV, from the download menu on the export's row. XLSX carries its own column structure, so Excel has nothing to guess. ![The Download menu of an export open, offering CSV or XLSX](https://help.evaboot.com/images/flows/manual-annotated-exports/04-download-format.png) ## Second fix: let Excel open the CSV itself Double-click the downloaded CSV instead of importing it through **Data > From Text/CSV**. Excel applies its default separator handling, which is usually right. ## Third fix: through Google Sheets 1. In Google Sheets, click **File > Import**. ![The File menu open in Google Sheets with Import highlighted](https://help.evaboot.com/images/9887776/img-2.png) 2. Choose **Upload** and select your CSV. ![The Google Sheets import dialog on the Upload tab](https://help.evaboot.com/images/9887776/img-3.png) 3. Click **File > Download > Microsoft Excel (.xlsx)**. ![The Google Sheets download menu with Microsoft Excel selected](https://help.evaboot.com/images/9887776/img-4.png) 4. Open the downloaded `.xlsx` in Excel. ## Related articles - [How Do I Export a Sales Navigator Search with Evaboot?](https://help.evaboot.com/public/data-export/how-does-the-sales-navigator-export-work/) - [What Data Do I Get When I Export a Lead?](https://help.evaboot.com/public/data-export/what-data-is-exported-by-evaboot/)
